The design of a 23-acre park slated for East El Paso has been teased in a video post by the City's Capital Improvement Program.

Argal Park at Las Palmas will be constructed at the corner of Pendale Road and Rojas Drive as part of the 2012 Quality of Life projects approved by voters.

The park will have plazas, a covered playground, grass areas for soccer and multi-purpose uses, and a half-acre dog park. Two looping trails will be constructed for walking and jogging.

Landscaped areas of the future Argal Park in El Paso will be a mix both non-native and native plants. (City of El Paso/Sites Southwest)

Landscaping will include hundreds of new trees, garden walls, and lighting fixtures.

Sites Southwest of Albuquerque was selected to design the park, with input from the public at recently held community meetings.

Construction on the $5 million park should begin in the fall after the construction contract is awarded, with a target completion date in the summer of 2017.
