Northgate Transit Project To Break Ground Soon

The City of El Paso will vote Tuesday on awarding a contract for the construction of the Northgate Transfer Center, signalling that work should begin in the coming weeks.

'Extreme Makeover' for New El Paso County 911 Center

A project is underway to renovate a new location for the El Paso County Regional Communications Command Center and is being described as an "extreme makeover" by the contractor.

The El Paso County 911 District will use the renovated building as a "redundant" site to support existing 911 infrastructure. The existing warehouse is located at the corner of Railroad Drive and Threadgill Avenue in Northeast El Paso.

New Westside Tower Stirs Up Opposing Views

Supporters of a proposed 22-story tower in West El Paso have set up a Facebook page and online petition that urges City Council to approve the ambitious project unveiled in April.

Meanwhile, opponents have also setup an online petition calling for the City to deny the required zoning change for the project unless the height of the tower is lowered or it is moved to Downtown El Paso.

Artspace El Paso Lofts to Open November 2016

Construction is ongoing at the Artspace Lofts site in Downtown El Paso, and residents will be able to move in as soon as November.

According to the official website, Artspace will begin taking resident applications on September 1, 2016 from those interested in living in one of the lofts. Officials hope to have the apartments ready for occupancy by mid- to late-November.

See I-10 Connect Options in Video Visualization

The Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) is highlighting the four "alternatives" to fixing missing connections between Interstate 10 and Loop 375 in Central El Paso, and residents can see the options the State is considering in a video visualization.

Cielo Vista Mall Officials Tight-Lipped on Expansion Delay

Officials with Cielo Vista Mall aren't offering any details as to why a previously announced expansion has been delayed.

A representative with Simon Property Group indicates they "continue to work on plans for the expansion of Cielo Vista Mall," but have no additional updates. Simon owns and operates the mall, located in East El Paso at Interstate 10 and Hawkins Boulevard.

'Urban' Hotel Planned at Montecillo Development

El Pasoans are getting and updated look at the Montecillo smart growth development on the West Side, which includes possible future highlights such as a "unique urban hotel."
