The new structure, which is being built on the northern side of the center, helps complete the "racetrack" design that includes covered walkways.
Crews have already begun working on site work and steel placement. According to a press release, the expansion is expected to generate $17 million in sales and $344,000 in local sales tax.
The first phase of the project opened in 2007 with about 378,000 square feet and over 90 tenants in far Northwest El Paso.
Horizon Group Properties, Inc., and CBL & Associates Properties, Inc., are co-developers on the expansion, which is expected to see completion in fall of 2014.
