The Montecillo smart growth development in West El Paso has commissioned muralists to add public art to the walls of its structures. Australia based street artist Fintan Magee and San Diego based Christopher Konecki have joined resident artist EXIST1981 in contributing work at the site.

Most of the art is concentrated in the TI:ME at Montecillo center, though Magee is putting the finishing touches on a four-story mural at the Santi Dwellings to the west. Konecki is working on multiple pieces on the sides of shipping containers used as structures at TI:ME.
“We are thrilled to have one of the leading muralists in Australia’s Street Art and Contemporary Mural movements coming to El Paso leaving his imprint at Montecillo,” states EXIST1981 about Fintan Magee, in a press release. “We are proud to contribute to El Paso’s public art with these signature murals.”

The work of EXIST1981 will be familiar to anyone who has visited TI:ME, and the artist continues to contribute murals throughout. EXIST1981 is curating the Montecillo mural project.
Magee has completed projects throughout the world, including pieces in London, Moscow, and Buenos Aires. Konecki and EXIST1981 have several completed project in Southern California and, now, El Paso.

TI:ME at Montecillo is located at the corner of North Mesa Street and Montecillo Boulevard, while the Santi Dwellings are just to the west.
