New Northwest El Paso Hospital to Open Jan. 17

The Hospitals of Providence Transmountain Campus in Northwest El Paso will celebrate its grand opening on January 17, 2017 as construction on the brand new teaching hospital nears completion.

A Community Open House will also be held on Saturday, January 7, so that the public can get an early look at the campus. The hospital is located at 2000 Transmountain Road at the intersection of North Resler Drive.

The hospital is a collaboration with Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) of El Paso which will train about 75 medical residents in a multi-year program. The residency programs at the hospital begin in 2020.

In all, the 106-bed facility will have 100,000 square feet of physician clinic space and generate more than 300 jobs with a median income of around $45,000.

"For The Hospitals of Providence network, this new hospital reinforces our ongoing investment in El Paso and our desire to provide exceptional health care to the communities we collectively serve," states Nicholas Tejeda, CEO of The Hospitals of Providence Transmountain Campus, on the project website.

The open house will be held from noon to 4:00 p.m. on January 7 and will include hospital tours, health screenings, and free food and games for the family.

The Hospitals of Providence is part of the Tenet Healthcare system and operates multiple hospitals around El Paso.
