The newest addition to the Montecillo smart growth community in West El Paso opened its doors on Monday, April 25, to patrons in order to help train staff in the run up to the grand opening, showing older films such as "Back to the Future" and "Mad Max: Fury Road."

Starting today, brand new movies will be shown, including new releases such as "Keanu" and "Green Room" as well as recent releases like "The Jungle Book."

Alamo Drafthouse is still having its Soft Opening Training Days, so food and non-alcoholic beverages are 30% off through May 5.

The Alamo Drafthouse, now open, will overlook the rest of the Montecillo Town Center in West El Paso once it is completed. (Montecillo)

The grand opening will be held May 6 to coincide with the release of "Captain America: Civil War."

The theater is an anchor and first tenant for the Montecillo Town Center, a part of the larger Montecillo smart code development. It sits in a sloping valley on the east side of Mesa Street, north of Castellano Drive.
