Chihuahuas Sell Out Opening Day

Individual Game Tickets on Sale, Promotional Schedule Released

Tickets for the El Paso Chihuahuas Triple-A baseball home opener sold out within a few hours on Saturday, when single-game tickets first went on sale. The 7,500-seat stadium will have its grand opening on April 28, 2014, beginning an eight game home stand.

In a press release, General Manager Brad Taylor stated, "Once again El Paso and the region has shown their passion and desire for Triple-A baseball. We are thankful that so many want to be a part of Chihuahuas baseball from the beginning and going forward."

The team held an event at the Convention Center on Saturday to promote the beginning of single game tickets being on sale. Previously, only season tickets were available for purchase.

Fans can still purchase tickets for other games at the Abraham Chavez Box Office beginning March 17, 2014, or by going to epchihuahuas.com. Reserved seats start at $8 in advance and $10 the day of the game.

The team also released its promotional schedule last week, which includes various entertainment and promotions planned for the season. Highlights include the Famous San Diego Chicken, which will visit the ballpark on Sunday, July 13, and the ZOOperstars!, an inflatable entertainment act that will premier at the stadium on Friday, June 13.
The online seating charts help fans purchase tickets through the El Paso Chihuahuas website. An open seat symbol means the seat is available for purchase. (epchihuahuas.com)

In addition, the park will hold 12 nights of fireworks shows. Other acts include the Russian Bar Trio (June 1), BirdZerk! (June 15), and Breakin’ Boy McCoy (August 15). Giveaways throughout the season include rally towels, commemorative tickets, magnet schedules, t-shirts, and collector jersey pins.

Dog lovers will get a chance to bring their pooches to the park on two nights during “Bark at the Park.” The events will be held May 18 and August 3. Dogs must be vaccinated and leashed in order to take part.

The string of eight games that begins on April 28 will not be the team’s first official home stand. Four “home” games will be played in Tucson beginning on April 11, allowing construction crews back in El Paso more time to ready the brand new Downtown stadium for games.
