Construction crews have started work on the Downtown baseball stadium’s eastern entrance along Santa Fe Street. The entrance will be part of a pedestrian deck positioned over the railroad tracks that run alongside the ballpark site.

Alan Shubert, the City’s project manager for the ballpark, call the entrance the stadium’s “front porch,” adding, “This eastern entrance will allow spectators to access the ballpark from the Santa Fe Street side which creates connectivity between the ballpark and other downtown amenities.”
Ticket booths will be positioned in this area and will be adjacent to the planned pedestrian pathway which will run along the northern side of the Convention Center. This entrance will be in the right field vicinity of the ballpark, next to the outfield structures.

Opening day for the $60.8 million park is scheduled for April 11, 2014, the first home game for the yet-unnamed Triple-A ball club that will move to El Paso in the coming months. Construction on the stadium has progressed at breakneck speed to ensure construction is completed on time.
The 9,500 seat stadium will include amenities such as 23 suites, a “Home Plate Club” which will include a bar, 300 club seats, a retail store, “party decks,” a Kids Zone, some outfield seating, and 360 degree access around the park.
