Shade canopies were also installed in the common area of the flea market, and over the stage area. These are located in the approximate center of the market and were a $15,000 investment.
The third project involved replacing several palm trees that had perished in the historic freeze of 2011, some up to 30 feet in height. Replacing the trees had a cost of $14,000.
Restrooms are now in a permanent structure. |
Jeannette Negrete, Property Manager for the Fox Plaza shopping center, says that the projects had been considered before, stating, “These were improvements we had been planning for a while,” with the financial stars aligning last year.
A bit further back, 102 parking spaces were added to the 1,600 existing spaces in 2007.
The Fox Plaza Flea Market began operating in the 1960s, and boasts between 15,000 and 20,000 visitors on any given Sunday. Attendance has bloated up to 33,000 patrons on relatively recent days.
