The most visible part of the renovation will be upgrades to the lobby area. Borderplex plans changes to the lobby to make it "more open, airy, and light-filled," which includes contemporary elements and structural changes to improve pedestrian flow.

The renovations include new building entrances and a full-service restaurant with outdoor patio seating. Also included, a "grab and go" cafe kiosk that will offer snacks and refreshments.

“Wells Fargo Plaza is one of downtown El Paso’s most recognizable buildings and we want to create a professional and positive first impression in the lobby area that reflects the image of the building” states Jamie Gallagher, Senior Vice President of the Borderplex Community Trust, in the press release.

Restaurant and cafe tenants have not been chosen.

The renovation project begins on November 1, 2014. The building will remain accessible through the duration of the project. No timeline was disclosed for the project.
